Needham Monterssori School has two toddler classrooms. During this developmental stage from 15 months to 3 years, children strengthen fine and gross motor skills, expand their vocabulary while better understanding syntax, feed themselves at snack and lunch, choose activities from the shelves, potty-train, work alongside peers, among many other milestones. We just added a stair structure along with a tunnel in the Toddler I room. Children practice walking up and down stairs as they progress in their gross-motor development. Toddlers love listening to stories, turning the pages, and pointing to familiar objects, especially animals. We listen to books on tape, encouraging a love of literature, music and storytelling.
In the music room, children explore drums, tambourines, music sticks, and listen to songs played on the Boston Baby Grand Piano. Parents are always welcomed to observe in the observation room next to Preschool I.
