Christine Lachkey, Director + Toddler Lead Teacher + Preschool Lead Teacher

Christine believes that children should be treated with a deep respect as they are unique individuals. Her philosophy follows a quote from Dr. Maria Montessori: "The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'the children are now working as if I did not exist.'" Christine considers the development of their social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual selves is the focus of Needham Montessori School. She also trusts that the underlying purpose of her philosophy education is to aid the child's independence and self-formation by creating an environment that can unlock the inherent potential and intelligence within each child!

Christine has multiple degrees and certificates ranging from education to massage, yoga, and manicures. Christine earned her general certificate of education and Montessori Internationale Diploma in Sri-Lanka. Her Associates of Science degree is from Wheelock College.  Christine received her certificate to be an Infant/ Toddler and Preschool Director.

Christine enjoys singing, dancing, shopping, and travelling in her free time.

Allen Douglass, Director + Toddler Lead Teacher

Allen is a strong supporter in knowledge building through a child's world. Dr. Maria Montessori says "The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child independent of the adult." Knowledge that comes through exploration in an independent environment is key to the Montessori method. Montessori Directors are really unique in their understanding and ability to support the child's world to be continuously conducive to each child.

Allen holds degrees from Eastern Nazarene College (BA in Early Childhood Education), Montessori Institute of New England (Infant/Toddler Credential), Massasoit Community College (Associates in Early Elementary Education) as well as all credentials from the Department of Early Education and Care.

Allen loves the outdoors and going fishing. He believes that the outdoors is a very crucial part in child development and learning and is a very underrated and overlooked factor about teaching children!
